On Saturday 20th September, many Bayer sites across Germany opened their doors to the public as part of the events organized by the German Chemical Industry.
The event provided a perfect opportunity for the public to come and visit the Bayer Bee Care Center in Monheim and also speak with the team at the Bee Care Infomobile “Ape” which was in Leverkusen at the Bayer headquarters for the day’s events.
In Monheim, the Bee Care team members were joined by a local beekeeper organization. The public turned out in force and kept everyone busy talking about the activities carried out at the Bee Care Center, beekeeping topics and the issues relating to bee health.
At Leverkusen, the inclement weather didn’t dampen spirits and many people came to visit the Bee Care stand to look at the exhibits on display. The stand was on the roof of the BayKomm Communications building in the new Bee Care garden which had been planted with bee-attracting flowers and sown with blooming strip seed mix earlier this year. The colorful swathes of flowers attracted lots of interest and seed packs of flowers which will provide foraging and nesting habitat for pollinators when planted next spring fairly flew off the stand.
All in all, it was a great chance to engage with people on the bee health topic and discuss a subject that has drawn a lot of public attention in recent years.
